Install a C220 whip antenna
Mount the C220 or C200 antenna so that it has the best possible line-of-sight to the remote device to maximize the operating range. It's best to mount the antenna above metal structures that could obstruct the radio signal. You'll get the best performance when any surrounding metal is at least 20 cm away from the side of the antenna whip.
Mounting surface
The mounting surface must have the following characteristics:
- Metallic
- No more than 2.5 mm (0.1 in) thick
- Must permit the antenna whip to stand vertically above the mounting surface
If you have to use a vertical surface, attach the antenna to an area where the metal surface turns away from the antenna. The antenna comes with a pre-drilled bracket for this purpose.
Assemble and adjust the antenna
- Drill a 19 mm (3/4 in) diameter hole in the mounting surface. You can also use the pre-drilled bracket.
- Deburr the hole then pass the end with the gold connector through the hole.
- Move the cable so that the antenna base catches under the hole, the gold button on top is facing up, and the base is centred in the hole. The O-ring gasket of the locking ring should seal to the mounting surface when threaded onto the base.
- Adjust the cable so it doesn't become kinked. Tighten the locking about one-quarter turn after the O-ring makes contact.
- If the mounting surface is less than 1.25 mm (0.05 in) or if you're using the bracket, install the flat rubber washer. Don't install the washer if the mounting surface is thicker than 1.25 mm.
- Pull the antenna whip so that the bushing seats into the rubber insulator of the base cap.
- Thread the base-cap onto the antenna base. Tighten another one-eighth to one-quarter of a turn. If the antenna whip feels loose to the touch, remove the rubber washer or adjust the bushing so that the bottom end of the antenna whip protrudes further from the bushing.
- Connect the cable to the antenna port on the receiver and thread them finger tight. Tighten another one-tenth to one-eighth of a turn.
